Peace, relaxation, cold drinks and good company await you. Come and explore. We love leading hikes to the Ligongo and Wayando mountain view points. You can safely do a self guided walk around the nearby fishing villages or book a fishing boat trip on the lake.
About Us
Rooms to fit your family
Rooms are found in Bandas. Each one has a name and unique style. You pick which one fits your needs. All toilets are water flush and bio digester. Outside composting ones are also available for visitors and campers. Hot showers are solar powered and all water is filtered.
Amenities
Rooms are equipped with electrical outlets to charge phones and devices, in room toilets and hot showers, towels and body wash, fans, reading lights and even reading materials. Maid service is daily. Linens are changed daily upon request. A solar outdoor hot shower is also available to all guests who might enjoy one under the sun and trees . Wifi is free.
Rates
Rates at Wayando are charged per person, not per room. Bed and breakfast per person is 6000 KSH. Half board is 7500 KSH and full board is 9000 KSH.
A Little History of Wayando
We are always asked about how we came to be on Rusinga Island. The story is a long one we have posted on the wall behind the bar. Linda Campbell Tilton from Washington, D.C. and Thadayo Olewa Okatch, a 1961 airliftee from Rusinga sponsored by Tom Mboya, were married in 1965 in Kansas and their son Otieno was born in 1967. Thadayo died in 1968 in the USA as a result of gun violence. Wayando Beach Eco Lodge is a tribute to their unfinished love story. Feel free to ask Linda questions.

Cancellations for future reservations will be refunded at 100% if done within 48 hours of the initial reservation, 50% refund is made until 30 days prior to arrival date. No refund will be made after 30 days prior to arrival .. We can, however hold your deposit for a future date . Same day or next day reservations which are declined by the guest will not be refunded. Holiday periods are especially sensitive as we may have declined other guests.
